SOPHIE’S CAREER MOVE

On about 1 pm on Friday, Sophie was home, placed all her documents in her briefcase, took her lunch with parents and gotten ready for Seattle. At about 2 pm, Albert called John to let the family know that he is coming to pick up Sophie for the Seattle meeting. The traffic was moderate, and weather was cloudy but dry. On the way, Albert said: “The Professor’s name we are going to meet is Professor Mary Mullin” He was giving Sophie advices on what to say, if certain questions were asked. At about 3:30 pm, they were by the Medical School parking lot.

Albert suggested Kindly: “We have nearly one hour to our scheduled appointment; Let’s have a cup of coffee in the school cafeteria, before going to my Professor’s office; This will also give you time to freshen up if needed”

Sophie replied: “OK, Doctor Johnson; Thanks”

At about 4:15 pm, Albert noticed Sophie is somehow nervous. He suggested: “Don’t be nervous, relax and just be yourself; You will do fine; It’s about time to go to the Professor’s office; She is a busy person and we need to be on time”

Sophie replied: “It’s just that I am so anxious to see the Professor Mullin and know what will be the outcome”

Albert reiterated: “Please, just relax and be calm, but alert; you’ll be fine; If you need to go for a quick freshen up and cool down, now is the time”

Sophie replied: “I am OK, thanks”

So, they went to the School Reception and Albert reiterated: “My name is Doctor Johnson; We have scheduled appointment with the Professor Mullin for 4:30; Could you please inform her of our arrival?’

The reception checked her computer meetings data base, then replied: “Yes, Doctor Johnson; I’ll let her know that you are here” She then called the Professor and said: “Please, proceed to her office”

Albert knocked the Professor’s office door and waited to be admitted. By meeting Professor Mullin, they shook hands. Albert pointed to Sophie and reiterated: “This is Sophie MacKinnon; One of the applicants anxious to study in your Medical School”

Professor Mullin extended her hand shack with Sophie and reiterated smilingly: “Nice to see you both”

Albert replied: “How nice to see you Professor Mullin and thank you for granting us your busy time”

Professor Mullin replied kindly: “It’s a pleasure to see you Albert; You have been one of our best students; How you are doing and what I can do for you?”

Albert reiterated: “I am now in a supervisory position with the Tono Clinic, near Centralia; Doing fine, thank you and your colleagues for the education you gave me; This is to introduce you Sophie, a family close friend to be considered for studying in your Medical School; She will be a high school graduate this year with distinction; Has already applied for the entrance, waiting for a decision from this School; She has brought her documentation and school records, seeking your valuable advice on how to be successful in her quest to
